ICANe - Prevention, Monitoring and Caring Solutions to Seniors and Care Organizations.

About ICANe

People are living longer than ever before thanks to a century of work in medicine, public health and technology.

The number of older persons, 60 years and more, has tripled over the last 50 years and will more than triple again over the next 50 years. The older population is not only growing faster than the total population in practically all regions of the world but the difference in growth rates is increasing, along with the actual cost of providing care.

Along with age, come difficulties in using multi-purposed complex devices and applications not designed to serve the specific needs of the seniors’ population. By leveraging the latest generation of embedded connected technology with integrated health monitoring sensors and connecting them to cloud-based analytics services, ICANe is building a set of products and services that are solely designed to capture, track, assist and notify customers of potential hazards and/or distress situations that regularly occur in the daily life of most seniors and their caretakers.

  • 10,000 people turn 65 every day.

  • By 2030, 20% of the nation's population will be at least 65.

  • In one survey, 72% of Baby Boomers and Gen Xers said they want to age at home.

  • The average annual cost of assisted living is $3,600 a month, while a private room in a nursing home is $7,750.

  • The average cost of hospitalization for a fall — a common accident that affects one out of three older adults each year — is more than $35,000.
